Farm Bureau Scholarships

Deadline: March 1, annually

The Tulare County Farm Bureau Scholarship program was organized to give scholarships annually based on academic achievement, leadership skills and need. Below are the requirements for applicants, and a listing of all the available awards. Note, not all awards may be given each year and are contingent upon available funding and applicant pool.

Please share this version with your students and have them submit it via mail with their transcripts and letters; or they may still submit the PDF version via email to and send their supporting documents by mail, by March 1.  Typed applications are required.

To be Eligible to Apply:

  • Student must attend high school currently or have graduated from a high school in Tulare County
  • Undergraduate and Graduate students may be considered.
  • Must complete and return application (link below)
  • Must submit two distinct letters of recommendation 
  • Must submit a copy of current school transcripts by March 1 deadline. *** See Frequently Asked Questions for more info.
  • Student must be able to attend an in-person interview with selection committee.



Agricultural Career

  • $1,000 - TCFB Scholarship: for a student pursuing a career in an ag related field at a 4-year university.
  • $1,000 - TCFB Young Farmers & Ranchers Scholarship: for a student pursuing a career in an ag related field at a 4-year university. 
  • $1,000 - Fred & Marilyn Collison Memorial Scholarship: for a student pursuing a career in an ag related field at California State University, Fresno.
  • $1,000 - Mary Rankin Memorial Scholarship: for a student pursuing a career in an ag related field at a 2-year college or 4-year university.
  • $1,000 - Frank Ribeiro Memorial Scholarship: for a student pursuing a career in an ag related field at a 4-year university.
  • $2,500 - Ken and Cindy Williams Scholarship: Scholarship will be available to an undergraduate student majoring in agricultural studies. Student must be attending an accredited two-year or four-year institution and interested in a career related to agriculture water technology.  Preference will be given to those studying agricultural engineering, hydrology, or pumping technologies.  Other vocational fields of study may be considered including agriculture construction, mechanics, welding, irrigation technology, etc.
  • $1,000 - RRS Endowment Scholarship: available for student majoring in agricultural field attending COS.  Emphasis given to those pursuing Agri Business and Dairy majors.
  • $500 - Two Year College: available for student majoring in agricultural field attending any community college or trade school. 
  • $500 - Scott Shannon Memorial Scholarship: may be renewed for 3 years if criteria are met giving the scholarship a $2000 value.  Must be pursuing an agricultural major and enrolled in the Visalia Unified School District.

Student of an Ag Employee (children of owners or operator of a farm or ranch are not eligible) and student must list their parent's occupation and employer to be considered.

  • $500 - TCFB Scholarship: to a student who has a parent employed on a farm and will be attending a 2 or 4-year university. 

Frequently Asked Questions...

DO YOU HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF A COUNTY FARM BUREAU? No, but you must be currently attending or have graduated from a school in Tulare County.

WHAT CRITERIA ARE USED TO SELECT WINNERS?  Awards are made based on scholastic achievement, career goals, leadership skills and financial need.  Top applicants will be interviewed after the March 1 deadline.

WHEN IS THE DEADLINE? All information requested on the application must be postmarked on or before March 1.  We will not process documents after this date.  You will be notified by mail of application results by May 1.

ARE SCHOLARSHIPS RENEWABLE? Only the Shannon Memorial scholarship is renewable up to three years. A current college registration denoting 12 units or more and previous term grades with a GPA of 2.8 or better will be required for renewal consideration.  The Tulare County Farm Bureau office must receive a letter requesting consideration for renewal no later than September 15th to receive the renewable Shannon award.

WILL AN UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT BE ACCEPTED?  A transcript from the school registrar's office will be accepted, both official and unofficial, as long as it is issued by the registrar's office.  A "screen print" from an internet page displaying grades will not be accepted.


Scholarship application and all required material pertaining to it must be sent to Tulare County Farm Bureau Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 748, Visalia, CA 93279 postmarked by March 1st.  Applications and/or accompanying documents postmarked after March 1st will not be considered.  All material provided must be on 8 1/2" x 11" paper and current application must be used or will not be accepted.  The two letters of recommendation must contain the following:  The name of the applicant, comments on the applicant's character and abilities and an opinion of his/her ability to profit from a college education.  (A parent or close relative cannot be considered as a reference).  The name and occupation of each person writing a letter of recommendation is required.  Each letter must be signed.  Letters of recommendation must also be postmarked by March 1st.
