ARB Diesel Truck Rule

On-Road Heavy-Duty Diesel Vehicles (In-Use) Regulation

Ag Vehicle Exemption Forms due by March 31, 2010 


The first reporting deadline is March 31, 2010 for fleets with qualifying agricultural vehicles, fleets that wish to take advantage of the vehicle retirement credits, and fleets that operate two engine sweepers, fleets that have installed PM filters and want to claim early credits as required by the Truck and Bus Regulation. Agricultural fleets must provide the odometer reading of their vehicles as of January 1, 2010.   For all other provisions except for fleets following the BACT compliance schedule, the first reporting deadline is January 31, 2011 and each following year.

Background

The California Air Resources Board adopted the On-Road Heavy-Duty Diesel Vehicles Rule on December 11, 2008 in a unanimous vote 8-0. Information about the rulemaking, fact sheets, fleet calculators, and other important links are available from the CARB website link below.

** Important note:  Agricultural low-use vehicles, and other specialty agriculture trucks must be owned by January 1, 2009 in order to qualify for the 2010 exemptions.  Reporting requirements will begin in 2010, but trucks must be verified through ownership as of January 1, 2009 in order to receive the exemption.
